Debolina Saha is a freelance Indian acrylic artist currently based in Gurugram, Haryana. Her artworks are deeply inspired by the sea; its ever-changing moods, intricate ecosystems, and quiet ability to evoke reflection and wonder. Through textured acrylic paintings, she captures the beauty of the shoreline where waves dissolve into sand, where the horizon softens every thought, and where the heart remembers how to be still. The gentle rhythm of waves meeting the shore, the textures shaped by sand and water, and the effortless freedom of marine life inspire every piece in her collection.
Working primarily with acrylics, Debolina explores the interplay of light, movement, and texture to recreate the calming rhythm of the sea. Sea turtles, weathered shells, rolling waves, and coastal landscapes become more than natural subjects; they are symbols of endurance, transformation, peace, calmness and our enduring connection with nature. Through layered brushwork and tactile surfaces, she seeks to evoke the feeling of salt air, warm sand beneath one’s feet, and the gentle sound of waves meeting the shore.
Alongside her artistic practice, Debolina has a PhD in biomedical research, bringing a keen eye for scientific observation with artistic intuition and observation into her creative process. This fusion is reflected in her meticulous attention to detail and the harmonious interplay of texture, light, and colour.
Debolina's artworks have been exhibited at various curated art exhibitions at India Art Festival, Mumbai 2024, 2nd group art exhibition of Kala Samvad- Taj Art Gallery, Tajmahal Palace, Mumbai and 4th group art exhibition of Kala Samvad- Taj art gallery, Tajmahal Palace, Mumbai; and the Art Grandeur organized by the haat of art at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi where they have been immensely appreciated. She also has fine arts degree Ankan Bivakar (5th year), Ankan Ratna (7th year) and Ankan Probar (8th year) in painting from Bangiya Sangeet Parishad, Kolkata, West Bengal.
She is currently expanding her Mesmerizing Marine series, creating textured acrylic paintings that explore the beauty of ocean life through expressive compositions, with a focus on turtles, beaches, and tranquil seascapes. Through each painting, she hopes to bring the calmness of the sea into everyday spaces and encourage moments of reflection, curiosity, and connection with the natural world.
Experience at TAJ-04 exhibition
Being part of the Kala Samvad Exhibition at The Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai was an incredibly special and memorable experience. For an artist, simply stepping into such an iconic and prestigious venue is an achievement in itself, and being able to showcase my artwork there for the second time makes the experience even more meaningful.
My second exhibition at Kala Samvad’s 4th edition felt like a beautiful milestone in my artistic journey. It was wonderful to see my work displayed in such an elegant setting, interact with fellow artists and art enthusiasts and with the most eminent artists and Padma Shri awardees, and receive appreciation and encouragement from everyone.
I am grateful to the entire Kala Samvad team for creating such a beautiful platform that encourages artists to express, connect, and grow. The interactions, appreciation, and exposure I received throughout the exhibition will remain a cherished part of my artistic journey.
Looking forward to being part of many more such meaningful art experiences with Kala Samvad.
