Graduated from prestigious Govt. College of Arts & Crafts, Kolkata, the artist is a well-known figure in Delhi Art Circle. As a child he has always been fascinated by the green land and its rich traditional and cultural surroundings. Later, he was invited by Delhi Doordarshan to direct serial “Gayab Aaya” as an Animator, but continued his connections to his childhood memories of Jamindar Badi, making idols of Durga, Saraswati and Ganesha with clay to please his grandmother. However, he always prefer painting as the best medium to express himself.
Before taking painting as his full-time profession, he has been associated with creative media starting from his 20 years long span of professional career. In his long career he has shown his creative instinct by making TV serials, Ad films, Murals, Illustrations for several books and for prestigious authors. He made a distinct place for himself and can be easily searched through Internet. The artist has worked as a Chief Animator for the India’s first Animation Serial “Gayab Aaya” for Doordarshan – DD1, as Creative Designer for Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and with Jain TV, UNICEF, WWF, PTI, Business Today, ICEF (Indian Canada Environment Faculty).
He has a distinct position in the field of book illustration as an illustrator. He has worked for famous writer Ruskin Bond. The Artist had several educational books, story books and novels to his credit for various publishing houses.
According to him “Paintings have a life of their own that derives from the painter’s soul and his upbringing in traditional Kolkata villages facilitated him to create something traditional yet modern out of Indian Mythology. He has depicted various forms of Ganesha, who is always around us, in new perspective.” His painting “Durga” depicts all five elements in one canvas. This painting also take care of vastu and its rich colors gives cooling effect to onlookers and creates a positive and harmonized environment to live and work with. He feels every person’s taste for color changes from time to time during his lifespan. It depends on their state of mind at that time. One must feel connected with the painting.
The artist has painted on wide range of subjects in diverse mediums such as acrylic, oil, water colors, oil pastels, charcoal & mixed medium. His art is as realistic as it is abstract, the vibrant colors, the bold fluidity of distinctive strokes all endeavor to capture the complexity of traditionalism with the pulsating energy of modernism. Realism always attracts because it is beautiful but the abstract creates a feeling of curiosity to explore for more. All his works show a unique amalgamation of reality and abstract.
