Kala Samvad Hosts “Unforgettable Memories & Mumbai Monsoon 2025” – A First-of-its-Kind Art Exhibition in Mumbai
Mumbai, September 21, 2025: Kala Samvad successfully hosted “Unforgettable Memories & Mumbai Monsoon 2025,” a landmark 15-day group art exhibition from 7th to 21st September 2025 at the prestigious P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy, Mumbai. This uniquely curated event brought together two powerful themes — the soulful essence of Mumbai’s monsoon and the emotional richness of treasured memories — blending traditional art practices with digital innovation.
Curated by Rajkumar Sharma and Nandoo Sarswati, the exhibition stood out for featuring India’s first-ever AI-generated portrait exhibition, paying tribute to eminent personalities who have contributed significantly to India’s cultural and historical legacy. Alongside, artworks celebrating the vibrant mood and timeless beauty of Mumbai’s monsoon added a deeply nostalgic and emotive dimension to the showcase.
The event attracted an impressive roster of dignitaries and special guests across cultural, diplomatic, spiritual, academic, and political spheres. Among those present were Victor Gorelykh, Director of the Russian House Mumbai; Dr. Elena Remizova, Vice-Consul at the Russian Consulate; Padma Shri Achyut Palav, renowned calligraphy artist; Padma Shri Premjit Baria, celebrated artist; Sunil K. Deore, acclaimed sculptor; and Shri Vikas Kharge, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue & Forests Department, Government of Maharashtra. Other notable guests included Dhanraj Vanjari, former Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mumbai; Sagdguru Shri Dayal Ji Maharaj; Suresh A. Shengle, former MLA (BJP); and Minal Joglekar, Director of P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy.
The exhibition also witnessed participation and support from a wide array of respected art curators, collectors, and cultural contributors. This included Anant Vikas Jain (Spandan Global Art), Prashant Vedak (Art Embassy), Sharad Gaurav (Art Circle Media), Manmohan Jaiswal (Aakriti Art Foundation), Dipak Jadhav, Rajendra Shiravale (Kokuyo Camlin), and Mahendra Kalantri, Director of Acclaim Mega Structures Pvt. Ltd. Esteemed art collector Nitin Jadia and academic figures like Prof. Hemant Samant and Prof. Gnesh Tartare added further credibility to the event. Members of the media, including Shirish Ramteke (Vishwa Leader Magazine), Prashant Shah (Painternet India), and Gangaram Vishwakarma (Press Reporter), were also in attendance and actively covered the exhibition.
Over 34 artists, sculptors, and photographers showcased their works, each receiving the official Mumbai Monsoon 2025 Participant Certificate in recognition of their contributions. Among the participants were Vrushali Hemant Samat, Dr. Venkateshwar Moorthy, Aditi Sengupta (represented by proxy), Vidya Gavankar, Neena Bidikar, Samidha Lad, Sushma Walawalkar Adate, Ajay Sonvane, Vibhavari Desai (represented by proxy), Prof. Shirish S. Joglekar, Deepika Shah, Nandini Das, Priyanka Bhise, Deepak Bachchhav, Rajninath Ludbe, Manavendra Shroff (photographer), and several others. The certificates were ceremonially signed by Padma Shri Premjit Baria on behalf of Kala Samvad.
Each day of the exhibition was filled with rich artistic engagement — from dignitaries interacting with the artists to art collectors discovering fresh talent, and widespread media coverage capturing the vibrant energy of the event. The AI-generated portrait gallery, in particular, stood out as a highlight — fusing historical reverence with modern digital artistry, and offering a fresh perspective on legacy and memory.
Speaking about the exhibition, curator Rajkumar Sharma noted, “This initiative was about more than just art. It was about connecting emotions, history, nature, and modern expression — all under one roof.” Co-curator Nandoo Sarswati added, “Mumbai Monsoon is not just a season, it’s an emotion. Through this platform, we offered artists an opportunity to translate that emotion onto canvas.”
“Unforgettable Memories & Mumbai Monsoon 2025” proved to be much more than an exhibition — it was a cultural confluence of the past and present, where memories were honored and new histories were created. The initiative successfully positioned Kala Samvad as a visionary platform fostering collaboration between emerging talent and established voices, while promoting meaningful engagement with art in both physical and digital forms.
